Demotix Widget

Después de fotografiar para el MOP (Ministerio de Obras Públicas) mientras el ministro miraba el partido de Chile vs. Honduras junto a 250 trabajadores, le presté atención a la tremenda bulla de los sonidos de vuvuzelas, bocinas de autos y gritos de celebración.

Sabía que esta masa de gente estaban dirigidos a Plaza Baquedano (popularmente conocido como Plaza Italia) para la celebración tipica de eventos deportivos.  Así es que fuí hacia la plaza esperando capturar la reacción popular a la victoria de Chile 1-0 sobre Honduras.

Después, despaché mis imagenes al sitio web Demotix.com, una empresa britanica cuyo objetivo es ayudar a distribuir imagenes de periodistas ciudadanos.  Me imaginaba que sería interesante probar la experiencia Demotix porque no estaba trabajando para ninguna agencia en ese momento.

Mis fotos estan publicadas en esta galeria de fotos y tuve la fortuna de que una foto fue seleccionada para aparecer en el “widget” de Demotix que es un diaporama incrustado en varios medios en linea.  Encontré mi foto a la vista en el sitio opendemocracy.net como pueden ver aquí.

Definitivamente voy a empezar a subir mas fotos a Demotix.

    I’ll post as soon as I see a positive balance in my Paypal account. According to the email, payment takes about 4 weeks… so we’ll see. It’ll be interesting to see how much and how fast, eh?

    I did get paid, although it’s a small fee (~£12) since it’s for their Widget. It’s not like it was payment for any image or set of images to a third-party. As I understand it, they pay from their own pockets for self-promotional purposes. Ain’t bad for photos I wouldn’t have been paid for elsewhere. :)
